“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.” — Mahatma Gandhi.

Why is it so difficult to figure out love? Love is an important human need that is almost as important as food and water. In fact, the “Failure to Thrive” syndrome is a well-documented phenomenon that without love and human touch, a newborn baby will suddenly deteriorate and possibly die. Unfortunately, we’re not born knowing how to precisely love ourselves and others.  And this carries over into relationships. Couples therapy is a process to redefine or rediscover how to love yourself and your partner.

My work with couples is mostly influenced by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT has been found to be the most effective evidence-based approach for couple’s therapy. Research shows that through EFT, approximately 70% of couples shift from distress to recovery and report being much happier with each other.

During each session, couples will learn how to:

  • Identify their negative interactions
  • Find an effective language to express needs, wants, and desires
  • Understand the emotional need of one another
  • Lean towards each other during times of difficulty and pain
  • Relate to one another at a deeper level
  • Create new solutions to resolve stuck areas
  • Strengthen their commitment to one another

Together we can generate new possibilities and move towards a more connected, rich, and meaningful relationship.
